Very good! but the cheap Lebanese joint I'm in now is better. Just outside Gara de Nord you can't go wrong with a lebanese. we have a good one here in valencia. i went there with carol when she was over for the half marathon. i've stopped going though as they no longer serve ALHAMBRA verde.

Is that because Carol made a scene?

Is that because Carol made a scene? we went an hour after completing the half marathon. she was quite calm if i remember, albeit her usual droll self. no scene was made. i think she was quite impressed by the quality of the food. she recommended something which contained yoghurt. i'm sure she did it on purpose, so that she could have my helping.

Were't that group that Sloop posted Romanian? The three lasses?
If the Botez sisters (Canadian with Romanian parents) are anything to go by John could do worse than snag a Romanian lass....

I reckon you and me should take them on. Don't tell the lass! I've been practicing my Knight attack, they will have to submit!

This little jaunt ends today, sadly. Train from Brasov to Bucharest, bus from Bucharest centre to the airport, flight to Edinburgh - gets in at 10.40 pm, then straight from Edinburgh airport by bus (can't believe you can do this!) to Glasgow, where I'm staying four nights. I'll be checking in around 1 am. Then back to Whitehaven on Sunday.
It's been a really nice trip. Some golden moments, some strange sights, and some frustrations. That's what travel IS, I suppose. When people say 'it takes you out of your comfort zone', that's what they're talking about. Not that I've been 'tested' by dangerous spiders or snakes, or crossing ravines using nothing more than a couple of bedsheets. Or eating COW HEAD. I'm not what you'd call a risk-taker. But you're faced with the unfamiliar the whole time when you set foot in any place for the first time.
It was pissing down all day yesterday so I didn't do anything apart from have a posh meal in the evening. So the Black Church and the narrowest street in Europe will have to wait for another visit. I'm popping out for a stroll now so I might see a couple of things. But really looking forward to the train back to BUCHA! I LOVE trains in Europe.
I might come back to Bucharest. It needs time. Brasov reminds me of a few other places, it's not unique (although it's pretty), but Bucharest is sort of wild. But maybe the next stop should be Tirana, or Skopje. Life's short.

Travel can be a very mixed thing. A lot of it can be boring, hanging around and shit and it can be incredibly frustrating and odd but the good moments are so good you keep coming back for them. There is something refreshing about being surrounded by a different culture. Like being plunged into a cold pool you're like "ugh!" but in a good way you know.
Glad you have enjoyed it anyway.

I was hoping you'd fly to Eugene, OR, and I could drop you off on some fire trail in the Oregon backwoods with a portable juicer and a sack of oranges and then take bets with the Preludineers on whether you made it out alive, and if so, you'd make it back in how many days. If the loggers didn't get ya, Sasquatch would.
