Always good to see the mighty Faust written about, nice article. This ( with slight variations)is often the reasoning behind the more abstract work of the European/krautrock scene. The difference in generations between the victors and the people whose lands it was fought on. It interests me because of the time that it took for that feeling to arise. Germany fairly shortly after the war seemed to embrace rock, star club the obvious example and then the dominance of schlager. It still sounds remarkable to my ears even now. The prog prigs are always tying the likes of Faust and Can and Amon Düül II as part of their ranks. It really was an interesting and genuinely exciting time that quietly influenced what it professed to oppose.
