Blimey, 12 votes doesn't feel like enough.

Well, there you have it. I (up to this very moment) didn't feel sufficiently compelled to contribute to the original thread, but I had no trouble voting for a dozen classics just now.
(Unlike the now recurring refrain, 12 was sufficient for me)

And yet, I sheepishly admit that there are probably another half dozen numbers that I might have voted for had someone like me come along and nominated them. I lived through the decade as someone who was freshly 10 years old on 1/1/80, and freshly 20 on 12/31/89, CERTAINLY as someone who bought records and attended concerts obsessively, plugged straight into MTV daily after school from Spring 1983 until who knows when...and yet...I dunno, my lingering musical affection for the decade is decidedly "measured".

(Unlike the now recurring refrain, 12 was sufficient for me) I really struggled to get it down to 12- presented as a whole like that I think it makes the argument that 80s pop music was the equal of any other decade pretty well. In the end I went for: Ghost Town, Independence, Slave, Wired, Charming Man, Genius, Party Fears, Fade to Grey, Voodoo, Atomic, White Lines and Love Action.

Three songs shared our votes, G.
And yet - my affection for something like THIS, somehow remains more powerful than ever:

There is one track I don't know, it probably shouldn't be there.

I picked exactly 12 so that's exactly the right number. good thing "wishing well" wasn't on there or I might have gone over!
