It's alright.
But most major artists people say they dislike put out a song or two that they quite like.

Probably comedy acts like Dexy's, and Nick Cave would be the big two.
There are too many US, Canadian, Australian, NZ, Irish, German, Dutch, etc., acts not known or discussed.

Miles Davis Pharaoh Saunders Albert Ayler Joni Mitchell Nina Simone
Hard to imagine anybody would take a downright negative stance against Miles and Nina. I can't stand much of MIles and my pick of a Nina track in the cup drew out a load of haters

With those first three, it's more about disliking the genre than the particular artist. Is there anyone who likes jazz, but doesn't like Miles Davis? You get some who tire of the ubiquitousness of Kind of Blue, etc, but I can't recall any actual dislike.

Joni splits factions that are in agreement on most things.
Annoying folks like Cave, Ferry, the Smiths, etc., those that like are often aligned with the haters a small percentage of the time, as well as vice-versa. I don't think there's much unconditional love for any of them or (for the most part) unrelieved hatred.
Any jazz artists are probably not divisive to jazz fans. We have a reasonably-sized 'no jazz' contingent, but I'm not sure they'd particularly differentiate between them.
Joni's the winner, probably. Everybody seems to either like her or hate her (or find her dull and ignorable). Is anyone neutral about her? Maybe G to some degree, but I imagine there's some he likes.

I’m pretty ambivalent about her—I like Hissing and Hejira, don’t care one way or another about the pop albums and dislike the folk albums.

She's one of the few major artists I don't have much of an opinion about. I think I'll always be trying to find a way in.

Yeah, Hejira is immense. The folky stuff I can miss in the main.

It's all these 'strong flavour' vocalists that split us - Morrissey, Joni, Zappa, Bowie
In rock, at least. Jazz music is another story

I don't think she appears on peoples' radars as much as some already mentioned. She doesn't have the problem of over exposure that poppier vocalists with a unique tone and delivery have.
