When did you stop, A? Half a lifetime ago for me. and I'm now utterly intolerant of it. I presume you're talking about tobacco, btw.

Never really got the habit. Pure luck. It is the most profound addiction of most of the people I’m related to. I used to have an occasional after dinner smoke when offered. Nowadays I get up and open a window.

I have around one or two cigars a year at most, in the summer as a postprandial treat.

I gave it up 15 years ago after a 20 year habit. I really hate the smell of them now.

Started smoking 43 years ago. Still do unfortunately. And I fucking hate it with all my might. I quit for a 7 year period in there, from 1986 to 1993. After 7 years of not smoking anything at all, I decided (IDIOT!!) to try a British ciggie, since I was there and all. Bought a pack to only have the one. I was going to give the rest of the pack to a smoker co-worker. Yeah right. I've been smoking ever since solidly.
I'm working on it. The way my mind works, I have to "decide" that it is so, and it is so. Well, those things that I can control anyway. And nmost certainly is one of those things. Not only is it unnecessary but also disgusting, expensive, impractical, terribly dangerous, and just STUPID!
Sorry for the rant.

I have a smoking cessation program that might not be for everybody, but it's worked for me every single time.
Simply start dating one who disapproves. Hasn't failed me yet. And now I'm feeling pretty good about the fact that, at least chances are, I will never again be tempted to go back.
Can't say I miss it. But of course I do have the occasional puff on non-tobacco products, so...
