Has anyone seen Race Around The World on BBC2? Such a great show, based around a really simple idea - four couples are racing around the clock to get to a destination halfway across the world without running out of money. it's got all the elements I like: you get to know these people a bit, so there's the 'human interest' side; it's a travel show, really, so you see all these fantastic huge Chinese and central Asian cities you've only the vaguest notion of (as well as hellish train journeys between them - and some alien plates of food); and there's the competitive thing, so they're not just drifting about - and you end up rooting for individuals. Last night's was fun as the father/son couple I mentioned were running out of money so they took a day's work at a flower market somewhere in China to get some extra cash. The lad obviously fell for the Chinese girl who showed them the ropes, but had to move on after only a few hours, so it was all hugs and 'I'll send you an email' - one of those bittersweet moments. And Pose started recently - also on BBC2 - and it's excellent: and alongside these two, you've got Fleabag (best TV in an age, although I'm not exactly gripped by this priest story), Derry Girls, This Time With Alan Partridge, Deutschland 86 - actually quite a few others I can't recall right now. So much good stuff. And this is without looking at Netflix... I love TV.

Yeah, I've actually got all that on my planner. Unfortunately, I've only watched about 50 minutes from two shows in total, but it seemed quite good. I like the idea that it's a race, but they're having to do things like get part-time jobs to fund the trip. Seems pretty cool.

I don't think Ted will be the big, bad H..it would be a little obvious for JM. He'll certainly lead us to think he is though!

Yesterday, I watched NCAA basketball and the Veep marathon on HBO2. All day.
I'd say Veep has the funniest and most creative use of cussing of any tv show ever.
One of my favorite scenes ever, when Selina Meyer's daughter and her lesbian wife pick one of Meyer's aides to be a surrogate father.

An unashamedly x files rip off, but holds your attention enough to care. Stars one of our most underrated actor Aidan gillen. Worth a butchers if you like that kinda stuff.

Lately I've been watching a bunch of old sitcoms - I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, Cheers, Happy Days, etc. etc.
And docs - I can't remember all of them right now but there's also a series called I Am.....Sam Kinison, Heath Ledger, Bruce Lee, etc.
And some awful Canadian movies when there's nothing else on at 5am.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_DownMy wife put this on the other night, and let several episodes run in sequence. The sort of squirmy laughs that we started out with gave way, in relatively short order, to a general sort of "Wow - they really have a pretty transparent formula here" fatigue. Jane Lynch doing the same "insufficiently well mannered" act she does in everything (and I liked it just fine for years), and this ongoing sort of Leslie Neilsen-esque "What would be the WORST thing that could happen right now?" cringe comedy (which, again, not an inherently flawed premise, but...you can't beat the punters over the head with it).

I saw a couple of things yesterday that really surprised me. First: Hi-De-Hi!I remember growing up with this and thinking it was a right load of old toot. It always seemed to be on, you got tired of seeing the same faces doing the same old lines. But actually watching again today it's obvious it was quite special. The cast they gathered was something else - massive talents. Ruth Madoc, Simon Cadell, Su Pollard, and (especially) Paul Shane were absolutely pitch-perfect, wonderful characterisations. And all real 'finds' for the time. I don't think any of them did anything much of note otherwise (Su Pollard of course was never off the telly in the 80s with her 'I'm mad, me!' fuckwittery - a real pain in the arse) - this was their moment to shine. The scripts were a joy too. I'm keeping an eye out for more episodes. and this: normally I'd have as much interest in watching a show called In Therapy with Danniella Westbrook as I would have watching one of these 'Manchester United football matches' some of you seem to find so interesting. And at the start I really disliked her. She's defensive, mouthy, all 'attitude' with the therapist. She's not a bright sort. But she breaks down and talks openly and - well, I wouldn't say I warmed to her exactly, but it's clear she's been through a lot, fame brought her so many trials, and all of this compounded by an addictive personality. It's a tragedy. I really felt for her. I think this is a series, so I'll watch out for the rest.

I have no interest in watching either of those I gotta say! The only thing I've been watching avidly recently is Line of Duty.
