Guy Martin In....Japan
He has a few of these but I've only watched the Japan one but it's fucking brilliant. Guy is a legend, calls Japanese strangers "duck" and is so enthusiastic and reverential it's wonderful. Plus when it comes to the engineering he's like some kind of savant and basically kicks arse at everything he does, much to the delight of some.
Here he is making a samurai sword with a master....
I was on the edge of my seat! Guy kills it obv.
Or...
Give it a go.

I probably won't, but if it stops him singing with Coldplay then I'm not complaining.

Binge watched Mrs America. Really enjoyable with a wonderful performance from Cate Blanchett. Ocassionally the political machinations get in the way of the drama, but overall it really brought the period and main figures to life. I didn't know much about some of them so it was quite an education and insight into the era. Great performances and a lot of fun. Strongly recommended. Anyone else see it?

I've seen all but the last episode of "Mrs. America". I was surprised to see that the directors and writers are women. how fucked up am I that I was surprised by that? Sarah Paulson's character is a composite. unlike most other speaking roles, she isn't based on an actual person. She is an acolyte of Schlafly but the most recent episode uses the actor's reactive gifts in a very clever way. She attends the famous Woman's conference in Houston but is there as a spoiler. when she arrives she believes herself to be opposed to everything the woman's movement wants and stands for. by the end of the episode she has had a change of heart. she is still at Schlafly's side but you can tell that being among women focused on equality goals has had an effect on her. it's not as clear cut & simple as she thought. I think it's good story telling that it's not presented as being clear cut. I think that was my favourite episode of the whole series. You had to feel for her when they broke the news to her that Woody Guthrie was a socialist!

I'm watching Chris Tarrant travel on Indian railways, telling everyone he meets that he once met Sachin Tendulkar.

Once upon a time in Iraq.
First-class documentary making from the Beeb. Lays down what we all know in uncompromising fashion about what a spectacular fuck up the invasion was.

First series of Ozark. It's very Breaking Bad, but has enough of its own thing to be entertaining in its own right.

Started to watch this and i'm totally engrossed. It's the strength the cast i think, as some of the stories so far have tangents that are out of a david lynch film. The cast work well off each other and humor among them does give you a chuckle. "Bones" is endearing despite her social awkwardness. The interplay between the two leads seems genuine and apparently they are good friends outside the show. I dismissed this show when i first heard of it, because i thought it was house solving murders but i'm glad i gave it a chance.

I watched that Fast Show special on UK Gold last night. It reminded me how - despite all those major talents - strangely unfunny the original show actually was.
