Is there an example of something like this ever being updated successfully? Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads. I did actually think of that after. It's a good example. Looking it up it was six years after the original series. I think that's the thing, there's a certain amount of time when it can work, but if you go over that it just becomes this out of date thing that people aren't interested in.

Just remembered another one. There was a new version Till Death Us Do Part that was a fair time after the original one (I think it may have been mid 90s). Can't remember now if it had the same name, but anyway I thought it was pretty rubbish.

A really good shout, in that the revival was better than the original series, but there was less than a decade between the two, and a film in the middle of the gap, so it felt like a continuation - at least to me. Forty years is a huge gap.
