No, not a straight to DVD sequel to Crash (1996),.....annoying, fucking shitty, you should be embarrassed to be seen to be using one, push scooter looking mutherfuckers. They're slowly taking over my town, and the users don't seem to give a fuck. They'll be on the pavement along a busy road then just steer on to the busy road with no hand signal. They get pissed at people walking on the pavement for being in the way, the fucking pavement wasn't invented for your fucking kids toy fucking transportation.
These bastards taking over your town/city as well?

Walking the dog one night a couple of weeks go, I saw a guy barreling along on one, in the road (the A358 as it happens), young guy, late teens, wearing just a pair of shorts. Thought he looked a prat, wondered if he had a license (you need a full or provisional license to ride them in the Uk, not that many care about that), but didn't think any more of it, or say anything. He turned off the road about 150 yards ahead, and I started to cross with Scrap, then realised he had in fact done a Uey, and was driving back at some speed in the middle of the road, yelling incoherently and aiming at me, it seemed: I stepped a bit to one side and he went past at around 20 mph within two-three feet of me. Perhaps because I was stoned, I was not particularly put out by this: maybe because he resembled, in physique, style of dress and hair, my old tripping buddy, Billy, I just assumed he was off his head on something.
But yeah, riding on pavements and footpaths is a definite pain, although it's not that prevalent.

I do.They magically appeared all over the Valley overnight about 2 years ago and never left. I’m most likely to see them unattended on street corners waiting for people to activate them. If I do see them in use it’s usually the types of clueless Bozos Markus mentions or people presumably using them to plug the gaps in their Bus commutes. I don’t understand how they make any money on the damned things. I guess it’s like Uber where you tell the app where you are and where you need to go. I can’t imagine they could charge very much for such a flakey way to travel.

I see a handful of people riding them every day, but there's no sharing service here - people buy the damn things (and those goofy electric unicycles, whatever they are)! E-bikes, too - all the food delivery riders use e-bikes.

You can kinda understand food delivery riders and couriers but just to get around? fuck off. It seems a pretty good solution to urban living to me. Environmentally friendly and more practical than a bicycle.

Based on final data, in 2021:
there were 1,352 collisions involving e-scooters, compared to 460 in 2020 of all collisions involving e-scooters, 324 included only one e-scooter with no other vehicles involved in the collision (single vehicle collision), compared to 83 in 2020 there were 1,434 casualties in collisions involving e-scooters, compared to 484 in 2020 of all casualties in collisions involving e-scooters, 1,102 were e-scooter users, compared to 384 in 2020 there were 10 killed in collisions involving e-scooters (all of whom were e-scooter riders) compared to 1 in 2020 our best estimate, after adjusting for changes in reporting by police, is that there were 421 seriously injured and 1,003 slightly injured in 2021, this compares to 129 and 354 respectively in 2020

There are a bunch of kids in my neighborhood who ride them - they aren't rentals, they own them. They don't bother me, they're kids, but when their 40 year old douchebag fathers tool around on them it's a different story.

How does the usage compare between 2020 and 2021 (basically pandemic years)? In any event, it looks to me like people are having very similar issues with them all over the yard.
