Massive at the time. Hard not to feel a bit nostalgic when I hear the intro. Trainspotting was a real pop culture moment.

I think it's great. The combination of its hyper-mania with the serene calm works really well. Although the lyrics are stream of consciousness rubbish, they manage to evoke the hedonism of the 90s really well, particularly as that hedonism always had a darker edge than simply having "fun". You do probably have to have experienced E to get it though. The ones that haven't will be more sniffy about it I suspect. I had both Underworld albums but found them a bit disappointing. I do love this pre-Underworld track, I think it builds in a really beautiful way. But I'm the only one on here who likes it, won't stop me posting it again though... They had such a terrible image (Karl Hyde dressed as a wizard with long crimped hair) that when I posted the video, it put everyone off. So I'll try the non-video link!

I just cannot get with that techno drumbeat. Any more than a few seconds of it does my head in.

Was never really a fan of Underworld, but Born Slippy is an absolute monster. That drumbeat is as addictive as crack, and there's not much more I like than a vaguely electronic voice hovering above a maelstrom spitting out a stream of consciousness nonsense.

Saw Trainspotting once, but I never done H, and found many of the accents impenetrable, had to have the subtitles on. Had MDMA a few times, but found it a reet disappointment. After all people were calling it 'acid' so naturally I compared it with the 100+ times I took LSD-25, and it turned out to be not much more than a hyped-up ginseng high. That said Born Slippy is brilliant, a one-off (I assume - don't remember ever hearing anything else by them, too late to start now) that I liked for its dynamism and chutzpah and lyrical sophistication (I literally haven't got a clue what he's on about, the only words I made out are 'Lager' and 'mega white thing'), and basically the same reasons as DF and G.

Massive record. Was only ever lukewarm to mildly keen on their other stuff.
But it's undoubtedly tied in with the film and the time. I luckily had access to numerous soundtracks, working in a record shop, at a time when they were becoming quite the thing, what with Tarantino etc..
So, this had been hammered in the shop, I already loved it and seeing the film felt like an event. The music sounded even better in the cinema.

Great track..Remember an interview where Karl Hyde said it was supposed to show the fragmented mind of someone out for the night while incredibly drunk and that lyrics were written during a binge night..
All the albums from Dubnobasswithmyheadman (1994) onward are fantastic..
