Doubt he's pissed on somebody's LPs. Fortune favors the bold.

Second time I've watched this, somehow. I love the media releasing the footage of terrorists taken from the girl's phone, "This brave girl, Emily Cale, who looks like <picture> and is still held hostage by terrorists being fought by her father. That's Emily Cale, terrorists, in case you didn't spot the connection. You have her, btw." Big stupid crap-film fun.

Has there ever been a better scene than the president using a rocket launcher to blow open a fence so he can escape the White House? Utterly goofy and wonderful.

I saw this at Tarantino's favourite European cinema: it was absolutely fucking amazing.

Even with low expectations, this was a disappointment. The energy, wit and inventiveness of the first has gone, and only the annoyance and tagged on real-world bullshit remains. It feels like a contractual obligation. A bad one.

I will say, though...my sons, who have spent the past five years fighting almost nonstop, walked out of the theater holding hands. I'll be damned if some of that "share your toys" hectoring didn't land with its intended audience.

We're two episodes in now. I love it (even if Lyonne is chewing up the scenery a bit).

I'd have forced one to punch the other after that, just to get the message across that films shouldn't moralise in such a clumsy fashion.

Think the Wonder Years but crossed with Archer. Acutely observed but also filthy as fuck. It proper makes me yuck. If you like a bit of ribald humour but done with intelligence and wit then I can really recommend it. Also contains the c-word. Excellent

I just thought it was silly and overwrought and a bit of mess with occasional moments of brilliance - mostly the first section when he's hunting for gold.

Bohemian Rhapsody.
I was half asleep until the last section kicked off. I'd guess 95% of the film's budget went on capturing that Live Aid performance! but it was excellently done, really impressive. And I thought Rami Malek (or whatever you call him) was very good.
But between the early days and the aforementioned final 20 minutes I thought there were too many flat bits, some terribly contrived and stagey soap-opera scenes, it went on too long, and Deacon and Taylor were rubbish.
Oh, and nice to see Mike Myers! but unfortunately he just pulled another 'oh bloody bollocks' generic comedy Brit act out of his arse pocket.
Enjoyable enough.

Won't You Be My Neighbor?, the documentary on Fred Rogers.
I never watched Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood as a kid, not if I could help it - it was just way too sedate for me, compared to Sesame Street or even The Electric Company. But this was really fascinating, and moving too - I actually gushed some tears at more than one point.

The slow shift to race politics of The Purge series has been very odd. I mean, I know you can say it's some kind of parable, but they really don't work that way, they seem to be more about politics in their own constructed universe, and its hard to get excited about that. Not exactly a stunning addition to the series, either. I loved the original Blair Witch Project. This is a pointless rehash, with added ... lack of suspense or ideas.
