Are you off anywhere HOT soon?  I've booked a holiday to Italy again.  Off to Rome and then the dolomites to do some walks.

Yeah, I walked all the way to work this morning (45 minutes) and although I had an umbrella, when I arrived my jeans and bag were fucking sodden.

I know it's very common to say it these days, but I do think I suffer with that seasonally affected disorder thing.

I was on here not long after I signed up moaning about how I hate Winter/Xmas etc and in other threads, I've talked about how idyllic it can be at my place in the Summer, sitting out watching the old fellas playing bowls next door, beer, bluetooth speaker etc...Costa Del Didsbury. My happy place.
We wait for months through the dark and cold and we get THIS.
Fucked if I'm paying my council tax if this is what we're now calling 'summer'.

I've just got in from a 10-6 shift. The kids I support are now on school holidays, so it's busy every day. One little fella I look after is a non verbal autistic 11 year old and walking is his thing. We walk for miles with him. Google Maps informs me every month that I walk on average about 45-50 miles, which is pretty good in terms of exercise for this lazy old bastard...

Doing a long walk the other day, I came back with soaking wet feet, my faithful old Adidas Samba have become perforated in a few places, so the first thing I did when I got up today was to order a new pair (lucky it's payday) and the second thing was to dig out my big clompy boots that I haven't worn since about February. Winter fucking boots in July! And extra layers and a bloody umbrella.

I was grateful of all three when walking round various parks in Stockport today, but fuck's sake, slate grey skies, pissing rain. Gets you down.

Incidentally, the last time we had a summer like this was 2005 when ironically, Rhianna's 'Umbrella' was at #1 for weeks.

Cluj and Budapest in three weeks, then (probably hotter) Madrid and Barcelona in mid September. I never enjoy hot weather but I hate our miserable summers.

I look for cheap flights first of all. You have to be flexible. See what Wizz Air and Ryanair have got going on. You can fly out with one company and fly back with another. I've been doing that a bit over the last couple of years.

It can take ages though - finding a destination that appeals, then checking the price and then the departure time to make sure you can get to the airport in time, then seeing if there are any decent cheapish hotels there....etc. etc. etc.
