After Charlie posted this in the Dan annex...
...it got me thinking about other artists that have advertised various brands through music. Were there any really good ones?

Little Milton - 'Things Go Better with Coke #1'
This one is a blast, for mine; this would have sounded so good coming out of an AM radio.
As tight and entertaining a marketed-music minute as you'd ever wish to hear.

I have several CDs of soda commercials by name acts, mostly from the '60s and '70s but some from the '80s, too.
I also have a bootleg vinyl EP of commercials for Great Shakes milkshake mix, performed by The Who, The Yardbirds, Dusty Springfield, The Blues Magoos, The Spencer Davis Group, and a few others - plus a Pepsi commercial by Linda Ronstadt & The Stone Poneys (there exists one by The Turtles, too - it's in their documentary) and a jeans commercial supposedly by The Troggs, although it doesn't sound like them.

Spruiking? I was sure that was a typo, but no, I have learned a new word today. Enjoy Pete Murphy's iconic Maxell Tapes ad as a reward.

Perhaps the most unlikely TV advert star ever. Andrew McKenzie (who is slightly better known as sound-artist/weirdo The Hafler Trio), advertising Sky Sports in Finland:

With ad campaigns like that, it's a mystery why the brand didn't last...

("White Levi's come in black...) (My favorite:) Wow! These are forever altering the way I think about Jefferson Airplane. I never knew about these. They're wild!
