A is just too black for me. It’s a million miles from my universe. B has got lucky here as I’m not too enamoured with in either.

B apparently has Stephin Merritt connections. One of his duller songs, not sung or performed by him, and like even the good stuff, is weighed down by his constant need to be 'conceptual.'
A is so much more interesting and rewarding. Not even close. Even if they are the trendy modern hip-hop pick, they were clearly enamored with, and well-versed in, the R&B from which stuff grew from the very beginning.

Can't believe how young Andre looks in the video! Were they still in school when they did this? Really liked the groove and flow to this one. They had that confidence right away. There's a lot of indie stuff that sounds like B, but to be fair the layers of jangley instrumentation were rather lovely and a cut above the pack. It was rather let down by the wet, mopey vocal though. A

I don’t like hip-hop much. It doesn’t mean anything to me. However, b sounds like the fort of thing that begat Coldplay so A it is.

B is a dirge. I like a bit of the Magnetic Fields but that does nothing for me.
A has a nice bit of chiselled torso throughout and gets my vote easily.

A, the charms of Stephen Merritt continue to elude me.

I feared A was going to be a slice of ultra-smooth cheese, a hip-hop version of track B in the first round. I guess, musically, it is a bit on the languid, lite-jazz style, but the vocals have plenty of attitude and action, to give it enough of a kick to fall on the right side of "not too bad". Four minutes is all it needs though, its done all it's going to do by that point.
B sounds like quite a pleasant American take on jangly dream-pop. One of those songs that doesn't have a massive ambition, it just wants to sound warmly endearing, a bit of melted marshmallow floating in your hot chocolate. I think that simplistic driving beat is really the key, it gives it that kind of pure-pop energy that the song would otherwise lack. I like this one quite a lot.

B is pretty generic stuff, I liked the kick-start drumbeat but it’s nothing I’ve not heard way too many times before. A, however, is a fresh example on their melodic and jazzy take on hip hop, undulled by overfamiliarity and pleasingly time-capsuled.

Not me, but interesting choice. A classic early Outkast song. Man, Andre 3000 and Big Boi look young in this.

I'm not into hip-hop at all. But B is so .... well, nothing, that I can grant myself the chance to be open minded and vote for an accessible piece of a genre that I wouldn't normally care about.
