Kudos to A for such an interesting pick outside the normal stuff we get in these things. It's a tune i enjoy a fair bit, and if it was in another match may well have got my vote. But B is a corker that is so right up my alley that it could be parked outside my garage.

Both pretty neat choices. I think I'm gonna have to go with...

Well, I'd say the only person who can be forgiven for voting A is the person who picked it.

I liked A: not the kind of thing I usually go for, and rather corny to boot, but it had enough character and fun to help it stand out from the other stuff on Googa's "Oldies" shelf. I'm not sure I can say the same about B, despite the loony vocal and booming beat. It still all sounds rather tame by modern standards.

A Haven't heard this in more than half a century. FL was already pigeon-holed as Mum and Dad music when I was getting into music. Hearing it as an adult it's easier to appreciate its weirdness, FL's odd diction, the minimalism of the backing of strums, thumps and 'vocal accompaniment' as the contemporary phrase had it, and the odd Biblical allusions in what is essentially a love song. Still not overly impressed, though. 4.5 /10 B never heard (of) this before, but that's some handsome guitar and a recognizable vocal group sound, very like the Drifters' up-tempo ’50s style. Nice falsetto, too, and a vague US Bonds feel to the thick production, with the buried saxophone chortling away in the background. I like that. 7 / 10
