Not crazy about A, but I like it better than that retro Daptone poop.

A is horrible.
B is just ok. Not really my thing, but I'd have it on in the background while I'm cooking, or something.

Imagine thinking “Alien Sex Fiend” was a good name for a band? Like imaging actually sitting down around a table with your bandmates and that’s the best you can come up with. The record isn’t even worthy of my time*
B started enough pleasantly enough – decent horn part - but was spoiled by the vocal and a general feeling of being a facsimile.
Still, by default and quite easily…..B
* I did listen, it was shit

Nice to see a Wick records selection on here. They're a Daptone imprint that mostly focuses on garage rock - this was surprisingly groovy for them.
I'll politely not mention the other track.

Is it just me or can I hear Sigue Sigue Sputnik in A? Yeah, that's what I heard in the opening bars, and unfortunately I kept listening for three more minutes before I turned it off. B by default even though it was pretty tame. B

a well, I like Sigue Sigue Sputnik, but I don't really hear them in this track from the comedy goffs, Nor do I hear the horrible racket that has offended some, just a punky racket that I can at least see from my wheelhouse. Make no claims for its greatness, but I'd rather listen to this than a fair few of the picks so far this round. 4.5 / 10 b including this pick and mix soul pastiche. It's very tasteful, and that's part of the drawback. It's got the tropes, and there's some lovely touches in the arrangement, but the vocals have no character and are too restrained by half, maybe three-quarters: while the records and styles they've attempted to emulate are all high quality, and everyone bar the singer has the chops, you can see the joins in this, and the song is a bit of a blah nothing. 4.5 / 10

“B is a decent enough paint-by numbers modern blue eyes thing.” “B rises slightly above mediocrity” “B is only pretty good” “B But it got lucky” “B is just ok” “B by default even though it was pretty tame” “the song is a bit of a blah nothing”
you utter, utter cunts.
you wouldn't know a good soul song if it rodgered your arses.
try listening to it on a dancefloor in nantwich, high on exuberance. you'll soon change your tune as you glide across the floor high on life.

A is predictably hopeless. Incompetent playing, juvenile writing and about as menacing as a Michael Palin documentary about teddy bears.
B is, yeah, second-hand and a bit cliched but it's a reasonably good song. I've never been to Nantwich so maybe I'm lacking some context.
