2 incredible choices! both should be commended.
i enjoyed the dr. john a hell of a lot, but bunker hill was out of control.

B was way over the top. Little Richard on steroids.

Both excellent. I think the Dr. John is a recent effort and is as much Black Keys as the great man himself. Not that that's...
oh it's

I liked A fine, but of all the Dr. John picks, really? Not gonna vote for it on principle.
B is just Little Richard Plus, but it's suitably unhinged, and I like the fact that it's a moonlighting gospel singer. The profane and the sacred are not so far apart, really.

A started off with a hefty old bass riff, but quickly lost my attention with its blues boogie thing. I dunno, just ain't my thing, I can imagine Van Morrison or Jools Holland getting a kick out of it, and just the thought of that makes my stomach churn. Not anywhere near my wheelhouse in this life or any other.
Yeah, if I'm going to listen to some old-timey music, I'd rather it have the energy and over-exuberance of Mr Hill. Might not be anything other than a novelty, but at least it's a fun, powerful novelty.

I was fearing the worst when I realised this was a modern Dr John record, but I really enjoyed this. A sharp production that retains the good Doctor's essential character while giving it a modern state of the art sheen. Lovely smokey riff and wee small hours vibe. I may have to hear the whole album now! B was an interesting curio and it made me smile. However ultimately it is just a badly recorded, rather amateurish Little Richard impression. We can give this kind of thing too much kudos I think.
