A is a very exciting clip, but i think it's the worst version of 'leaving here' i've heard.
B has a great sample and is just a bit more exciting.

B is good fun naturally, as the beats kick ass and i still find this period of the BB's catalogue enjoyable; but A is good too, and reminds me that i need to listen to some more Rationals.

I can't even begin to tell you what A means to me. That they were ever only regional heroes and not the standard bearers for absolutely everything that came after is one of the biggest tragedies of the decade. It's not the Remains that are "the band that got away," it's the Rationals. Sorry, Beasties, you are outclassed on every level.

Pretty obvious who picked A! he's often flown a flag for the Rationals. I have to say I don't like it much - those choral backing vocs are horrible - and anyway the Who did a version which leaves this in the dust.
It still beats B, listening to which is like being kicked in the head for 3 minutes

This is the toughest one; they are both genres I love.
The Beastie Boys sample is impeccable, but the rap leaves a little to be desired.
A, for it's overall approach vs. parts of B which I like, but not the whole thing.

More nuggets type stuff. Tolerance has gone, sorry.
I can't stand The Beastie Boys, those whiny irritating voices, it's like the US hardcore thing of just being hectored by twats. But that bass sample is quite cool, and I can't be doing with any more 60s rock stuff.
Nah, actually, it's too annoying, and patched together in a really clunky way. Fuck em all.

The Birds version of 'Leaving Here' makes The Rationals sound like a bunch of apple pie squares I'm afraid. This is pretty run of the mill and when there are much better versions of the song out there then why pick it?
The BBs are at their best at their most stripped down. Here the propulsive beats do the talking..and talk they do!

B Boooyyyyyyyy. The rapid fire ability of those guys during the Paul's Boutique era wins it easily. Years ago I read that when Chuck D (still on Def Jam records) first listened to the album (on Capitol Records), he didn't speak throughout its entirety. When his own "Now they got me in the cell" line showed up in a sample he raised his eyebrows but that was his only reaction.

A is run of the mill sub-nuggets...Vote B, if only for the beat...

A is humdrum. B without the vocals would cruise this round. With the vocal it just edges through. On second thoughts, no it doesn’t. The shouty rap thing is shit. Shame, because I could listen to the actual music all day long.

I'm quite fed up with garage bands, I appreciate the fun in A but I wouldn't voluntarily listen to a record filled with this stuff. But 30 seconds of B were more than enough
