Do you reckon he PLANNED to wear an anorak under a suit jacket with a string vest and a flimsy pink scarf to top it all off?

We end up liking damn near everybody eventually. It's like when politicians die...."oh he wasn't THAT bad!"

I'm probably their biggest fan on here and even I say Michael should stick to photography at this point. The two singles he's released sound like 'Around the Sun' outtakes and that's not a good thing. The other band members seem to rein in his lesser impulses..

Fables of the Reconstruction (1985) - love the whole album except CGTFH although I do use the term. The first three tunes sound different from the rest of the album but love those two.
Murmur (1983) - Heart the album saw them a few times on this tour including some memorable nights so a bit biasist. RFE and Pilgrimage are wonderful but the meat for me is the 3 song Sitting Still, 9-9, Shaking Through.
Reckoning (1984) - I was living in Maine when this album came out. The first four songs fit the scene of ocean shores and rainy/snowy nights. The second half of the album isn't as strong although I'm a fan of Camera.
Lifes Rich Pageant (1986) - Begin and Begin was a great live opener. These Days is an older song. Fall on Me and the political Cuyahoga are gems. Some clinkers on the rest of the album but FLowers and I Believe are good.
Chronic Town - EP (1982) - Beginning of my journey with REM. Gardening at Night is still one of my favorite REM tunes. 1,000,000, Carnival of Sorts, Wolves, Lower and good early tunes.
Out of Time (1991) - The complete mess album . Love and Hate here from SHP horrors to the wonderful last five songs including Country Feedback and Half a World.
New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996) - Very Under appreciated albums. Lots of strong material nice duet with Patti Smith of E-Bow, Cool vibe of Electrolite, Bittersweet me has a nice flow and the 7 minute gem Leave.
Document (1987) - This hasn't aged as well as the other REM albums. Still believe it has multiple gems although some overplayed like F Woksong and The One I Love. oddly tits the last two songs King of Birds Oddfellows Local 151 I still listen too.
Monster (1994) - Didn't think that much of this album when it came out but a few songs have aged well - Crush With Eyeliner ,
Let Me, Star 69 and Kenneth.
Green (1988) - This is their worst of the early albums Besides Orange Crush and Turn You Inside-Out and the quirky Get Up the rest is forgetful.
Automatic for the People (1992) - Nightswimming and sidewinder are bright spots on an okay album.

A disclaimer - I'm not a fan, and I think what makes this especially difficult is that they were capable of near-greatness and absolute cack within the same album side. REM are one hell of a frustrating band. This.
