Was this their greatest tune?
If not, what would you say is?

I think it's their greatest song, but I'm not wholly satisfied with any of the recordings of it. Whether production-wise or performance-wise, they always seemed to just miss nailing it.
"The First One's Free", "Heading For The Texas Border", "Second Cousin", "Comin' After Me", "Teenage Head", "Doctor Boogie", "I Can't Hide"... those, among others, they nailed.

I agree with CAG. And 'Second Cousin' and 'Teenage Head' from O's list are big faves too.
This - to me - is THE version of 'Slow Death':
it's mostly about turning that fucking chorus pedal off, isn't it?

It's pretty great, but might go on a touch too long. "High Flyin' Baby" might be my pick. I am decidedly NOT part of the "Shake Some Action" cult. It's good but...
Cosmic American Girl's here? ALRIGHT!!

I'll have to think about it and go back. There are the Roy Loney years and the Chris Wilson years. Very distinctly different. Have to think about this for awhile. I am not the Shake Some Action fan some people are.

ALRIGHT!! High Flyin Baby. Fuck yeah. That's the one for me. Very overrated band but a handful of goodies and that one is a real beaut

I am not the Shake Some Action fan some people are. Nor am I. I love Sneakers, Supersnazz, Flamingo, Teenage Head and Supergrease, but when they became a With The Beatles tribute band, I bailed completely. The answer, of course is yes, Slow Death is their greatest moment, though it’s either the 1972 version or the live from 71 Roy Loney one

I actually prefer the Chris Wilson version of the band vs. Roy Loney's.

Shake Some Action is the only good one I've heard.
