Also...
I mean, if you love Brian's work (as I assuredly do), it's very easy to see this as a deeply romantic and noble state of existence (and acceptance!)...(and also, if your life's work is to create music...is this or is this not a virtuous state?).
If you are antipathetical to him and his work, it probably comes off very differently.

maybe he doesn't take his phone calls? emails? texts? etc?? I wouldn't!
still, they've GOT to have a weird love/hate thing. I mean, the main reason Love got his first big publishing payday was because Brian sat on the stand and said "yes" every time they asked him about Love's lyrical contributions.
I gotta say. it's the least dickish thing I've seen Mike Love say for a long time. maybe somebody else wrote it?

I don't care for the music of the beach boys at all. I do however hope that whatever is happening to Brian
he can still hear teenage symphonies to God in his head.

It's one of the last things to go. That Glen Campbell doc from a few years ago showed him struggling to remember basic everyday things, but still able to remember his hits and play astonishing guitar solos I worked with dementia sufferers about 20 years ago and music always brought them happiness. Kind of comforting to know.

Kind of comforting to know. I work with folks with dementia too. You are correct. Almost every part of the brain is involved in processing music. So no matter what specific part of an individual’s brain is degrading via dementia, whatever is left that IS functioning also has a relationship to music. I’ve seen amazing things… folks who don’t remember their loved one’s names who can still remember the lyrics to old songs they used to love, etc…
