It all started when I was looking for something else entirely on my iTunes, and I saw how many high-quality songs had some version of 'rain' in the title and the concept of the song. So I went down a rabbit hole, and came back with about 30 songs (mostly singles, natch) that I've loosely grouped into five categories to publish them, complete with a poll: not that the poll matters, it's not a contest, just me rummaging around in my history to see if there's something someone else likes. The choice is entirely personal, and I've left out some obvious candidates (Purple Rain and the Rain Song for instance) because I never owned a copy. Please do listen, vote and comment on any you fancy - or just walk away, I won't be hurt. I'll post the other four over the next few days, along with any comments.
Ann Peebles - I Can't Stand the Rain
Eddie Gale - The Rain
Gene Chandler - Rainbow
Irma Thomas - It's Raining
Slim Harpo - Raining in My Heart
The Temptations - I Wish it Would Rain
The Weathergirls - It's Raining Men

Ann Peebles and Irma Thomas are sheer perfection.
I've also voted for Eddie Gale, which is a great discovery for me, and for the Weathergirls still manage to put a big smile on my face.
Gene Chandler, Slim Harpo and the Temps are good and they're not quite THAT good

I like all of those very much, although my personal faves would be The Tempts, Eddie Gale, and Ann Peebles, which i LOVE. Superb tunes. The WG is irressitible too, but i am a bit burnt out from TV exposure.
