A friend of mine is after posting a link about a cancer curing drug, 100% success. Now I know this friend nearly 30 years now and he's not afraid of the odd "ffs" joke. However I was tempted to reply back "bit late now, thanks" in reference to me ma passing away from cancer, but was afraid in case he takes it the wrong way.
Would you reply or not? Also views on dark jokes like that?

Humour, ffs. Certain things don't work as well when posted as they do in a face to face situation. As most of my efforts seem to confirm.

even in person you just need to gauge the moment. it either lands or it doesn't. you just throw the hatchet and see where it lands.

But then the smiley takes away the thrill of knowing whether it’s a joke or not

Humour is how we deal with the harshness of the world. Well timed dark humour can not only be very funny but cathartic too.
Part of the appeal is saying the unsayable and we live our lives on a psychological leash of sorts, especially in various social situations so dark humour can cut through all that bullshit in a very liberating way.

It kept the country together during the war. Hopefully it will keep the country together during the current fuckfest.

Dark humour is important, i'm sure if you hung out with over worked doctors or nurses, or military folk that seen action, you'd think they were heartless sick fucks with some of the jokes. We just don't see what they do.

It use to be my standard outlook, but no more. Having kids puts you right in the middle of what is acceptable or translates, it doesn't. Too many business/work situations where generationally it is misinterpreted and you have to clarify or dig yourself out a hole you didn't know was there. Lots of blank stares or they take it literally...in these polarized times, it ain't worth it. I may think dark mordant thoughts, I just keep 'em to myself. It's safer.

I'm shocked by the missing in action 'u' from the thread title. Americanisms are creeping into Predulin at an alarming rate
