They seem to be a breed of their own, you can sometimes see the same folks in different ads, but they can't do this full time can they? I have a friend that does ads here in Eire, he seems to get one or two a year. But, he has 2 kids, wife and works putting up headstones. I really want to ask him about it, but I'll know I'll ask the wrong question and depress him or he won't talk to me again.
What do you think of these actors, do you know an "advert" actor?

My cousin's ex wife was a HAND MODEL and got a lot of work doing ads.
You should ask your mate if he can get you some work!

A friend of a friend is one of these. Makes a reasonable living. But his best life would definitely be as a real ‘actor’. He has a necessary side-gig as an agent for other folks in the same boat.
The equivalent of doing a tribute band

It's its own subculture, some on the way up, some down, some are just pro pitchmen. Same with the directors, for many this is a way to film, shows you can handle a budget, a team, deliver on time, etc., They all humble themselves at the craft services table, nothing like the power of free endless food.

I met this guy in a restaurant the other night. Does a load of voiceovers amongst other stage and film work. Had a good old chin wag with him.

I agree, in theory. In practice I guess I'm just a glutton for pop culture and, like it or not, that stuff is as much a part of my psychological profile as anything else I've lived through.
Over here anybody who watches commercial television knows "the AT&T girl" and FLO from Progressive insurance. Us oldsters will remember Mr. Whipple squeezing toilet paper, Nancy Walker cleaning up messes with paper towels and Arthur O'Connel selling CREST toothpaste to people who were trying to buy something else.
there were local commercials in the 70's of a great old character actor who was always somewhere different but always had a chicken with him. I might eventually remember the actor and I certainly remember the chicken. I can't remember the product to save my life.
it seems to me that the most obnoxious ads are the easiest to remember. I was actually singing that "break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar" song yesterday. I am doomed.
