Greece at 2?
France at 9? China outside the top 10? I mean honestly.

Anyone here even eaten Peruvian food? Are we talking guinea pigs, here?
Like all lists, it tells us about the lister, not the world we live in.

Mexican could be a contender for the best.
Greek has no right to be in the top five - Turkish is far better.
I'd go
Italian Mexican Japanese French Thai Indian Turkish Malaysian Lebanese Greek
I've never really had outstanding Chinese but it obviously exists.

Turkish is great.
The best food I’ve ever had was in Japan. I can only imagine what some of the michelin restaurants are like but, christ, I’d crawl across hot coals for some decent ramen.

This is interesting (in an amusing way). Unsurprisingly, I didn't see Canada on the list - not that I was all that surprised, what the hell would Canadian cuisine look like? For that matter, what constitutes US cuisine? So I took a gander at the original site and found this: www.tasteatlas.com/searchTurns out my city is well known for............hot dogs! Who knew?

Italian pales when compared with most Asian cuisine. It's boring to see it top another poll.

Italian is simple, fresh food, it's just really difficult to get wrong. Though I've noticed a distinct downturn in the quality of pizza recently, as if no-one has the time to do a proper pizza dough anymore.

Italian pales when compared with most Asian cuisine. It's boring to see it top another poll. Absolute nonsense to say it 'pales'. I wouldn't say it is a great deal more superior, as many Asian cuisines, on their day, are outstanding. Going to Osteria Alle Testiere in Venice in February. Here's the menu, which is simple perfection. Local ingredients and fish from the Adriatic - what more do you want? Mixed seafood appetizers from Adriatic Sea 26,00 Cod fish purée with Biancoperla corn polenta 20,00 Caprese salad with Andria smoked burrata and steamed prawns 24,00 Octopus, avocado and potato salad 24,00 Warm salad of calamari and green beans from the garden* 24,00 Grilled razor clams 24,00 Pellestrina mussels, feta cheese and Calabrian origan 22,00 Scallops with orange and summer leeks 24,00 Steamed spider crab 22,00 Mains Main courses Turbot fillet with Ligurian black olives and Pantelleria capers 28,00 John Dory fillet with citrus, spices and fine herbs sauce 28,00 Prawns in sweet & sour “busara” style 28,00 Grilled “caciaroli” calamari 26,00

I just wish I had a decent oven. The one I've got is OK but you have to preheat the fucker on full whack for ages, so it costs a bladdy fortune

Italian pales when compared with most Asian cuisine. It's boring to see it top another poll. It lacks the sophistication of Japanese but I would say it's certainly as good as Indian, Chinese or Thai but it can't help but be a little bit less exotic to us. After the obvious big Asian 4 there is a noticeable drop off to Vietnamese and other South East Asian cuisines.
