Some London tube stations had bars on their platforms. The reference I came across is talking about 1980, they must have got rid of this fairly soon afterwards though because I have no memory of this at all.

The last one to go was at Sloane Square and closed in 1985, a tube station i knew well in the early 80s given I'd get off there for my bi-monthly jaunts down the Kings Road. I worked on the King's Road in the mid-eighties and I definitely remember the pub on the Sloane Square platform, because even when it still existed it seemed odd and a bit miraculous. I remember when it went too, I think there was an article in the Evening Standard or something about it. I also remember a pub within Baker St station - not on the platform but within the turnstyles.
