I got his debut album and liked it, not sure I still would if I was to play it now (which I'm not). The second was a huge disappointment and never cared again. This track is disgustingly overplayed, I switch channels even when it's used in TV ads, which seems to happen often.

It's almost the definition of meh. Running a riff into the ground and trying to tart up a bit of retro geetar work for a new audience.

Before we had an term/acronym for 'live action role playing', there it was. I feel like he's so transparently made of 100% recycled goods, and...to what end?

There are few performers who can still offend me like him. Unadulterated shit(e)! I remember seeing a book at a chain store - one of those big coffee table monstrosities, of Lenny Kravitz and fashion - in the music section! I ruined an entire shelf of books with my projectile vomiting.
Remember back in the 70's when a shitty act was held up as "the reason punk had to happen?"

I seem to remember that all these damning things people are saying were said about him when he first appeared, so I decided to ignore him. To this day, I don't remember hearing - or, to be more exact, consciously listening to - anything with his name on it, and I'm not going to start now. What is point?

To not rely on received opinion I guess, not that you're missing out in this case. As for this track, it's okay as a kind of 'Hendrix cleaned up and dumbed down for the MTV age', but not enough for me to vote hit and it's the kind of track you quickly tire of. I do like 'It Ain't Over 'til It's Over' though, if you'd picked that one i'd have happily voted hit.

From the get-go I thought he was a poseur and never once warmed to his music. Big shit.

Fucking rubbish. 60's cosplay. The definition of style over substance.

He's better than The Libertines anyway.

I can only echo what most others have said... while adding that this is one of his better songs.
