^That video is coming up as "Video Unavailable" for me :-( I did just listen to the full On Fire album in one go, and yeah, it was nice enough. It's all about the languid Velvety guitar, and trying to ignore the more nasally aspects of the vocals. I'm not sure I'll necessarily search it out, but I could buy it some day on a whim. I do need to get some Yo La Tengo though, been listening to them quite a bit recently. Which YLT have you checked out so far? Difficult to say really. I've been youtubing late at night, or telling Alexa to plat some Yo La Tengo. I know I've definitely heard May I Sing With Me, but generally it's been random streaming and letting it wash over me.

Play it, Alexa. If you can play it for him, you can play it for me.

I seem to have hit on a format for discussion, do you want more or less of this series.

More!
I was thinking of doing a similar thing on obscure records I have, but most are non-preludin friendly.

My first experience with Galaxie 500 was seeing them open for Throwing Muses. They were so loudly, determinedly, self-consciously dull that if I'd had access to the club's fuse box, Id've cut their power. What they did to Jonathan Richman's "Don't Let Our Youth Go To Waste" (their last number) was inexcusable. I subsequently heard On Fire - a flatmate bought it and implored me to give it a chance, which I did. It was preferable to their live performance but mainly insomuch as I was able to a) control the volume and b) turn the damned thing off.
I saw Luna open for Lou Reed. They were far more listenable than Galaxie 500, but a little too blatantly Velvets-worshipful for me to take seriously; don't remember ever checking out their records, though I may have. The early Damon & Naomi albums were awful, but I enjoyed their collaboration with Ghost; not sure I heard anything after that.
