Occasionally in krautrock. It's played by poofs.

The flute is a magical instrument. Absolutely.

Flute Rock played by poofs! charity shop sofa! I fully agree and yet.. I just love 'em. I don't think they've quite found their thing until maybe "benefit" but I like those early albums enough to vote "hit" since the only other choice is "shit" their early singles were all over my radio and by the time "living in the past" came out they were selling out 3 nights at the Forum and all the smart girls were swoony over the bastard. back in the day I jumped off around 'too old to rock and roll..." but nowadays I'll go straight up through "heavy horses". Flute Rock, baby!!!
I was laid up a couple of years back and listened to my favorites for the first time in a long time. I think "aqualung" and "thick as a brick" are spectacular and singular rock albums. "benefit" and "minstrel..." are very good. I don't know what they hell "passion play" was supposed to be but I admire going that far out on a limb even if it doesn't really land for me.
the rest is pretty good. "stormwatch" sounded like they were running out of gas and "A" sounded pretty desperate. I don't really follow what they do after that but I think they've got a lot of good stuff spread out over the rest.
so, the guy is totally bald now? I wonder if he still wears the trench coat?

Thick As A Brick is amazing. It's easy enough to understand how some people would be put off by it, but that band wasn't fucking around.

I can't get past that album cover. I thought you liked dogs! I didn't realise there were dogs on the cover. I thought it was four silly am-dram fuckers dressed up as 18th-century peasants (an homage to the original Jethro perhaps) standing in a pile of crap, and probably saying Ooo Aar in faux Bristolian accents.

I had Living in the Past, Aqualung and Thick as a Brick played to death at the time. I still think they are good to great albums, although B side of TaaB is a bit dull and repetitive. Stand Up and Benefit are good too. These days I am not too keen on playing any of them, though.

It's...fine. Not very exciting.
I like Stand Up and Benefit quite a bit - I think it gets a bit overcooked for the most part after that, but there's moments. Songs From the Wood certainly makes a pleasant enough sound but I'm not sure it all adds up to much.
More hit than shit, but they're never really unequivocally either for me.

Just played the track on the OP, didn't recall it by its name. Definitely HIT for me.

I like JT so much I bought most of the nifty anniversary sets; in spite of still owning many of them on vînyl. But the track in the opening post is totally unrepresentative of things to come and isn't even a good Mick Abrahams song (he would leave to form Blodwyn Pig whose debut is really great, rather horrible sleeve notwithstanding).
I didn't vote for lack of "meh" option.

That Blodwyn Pig LP is rather good.

The Loony Tunes parody American Blodwyn Pig cover is better I like them quite a bit more than Jethro Toe
