Incidentally, I always favored the US album cover myself.

I have trouble with Gentle Giant, and this is no exception. Some good bits thrown off with some unnecessary bits in songs, constantly.

I didn't feel strongly for or against.
The most sort of basic folky melody was pleasant enough, and...I guess I'm pretty well primed for that type of digressive behavior.
Unfortunately, my bland reaction doesn't REALLY translate into a votable option.
FOOTNOTE - one of the GG guys (Gary Green) surfaced locally in the early/mid 90s playing covers in bar bands with guys I knew. I remember him warmly - he seemed quite likable, modest, and kind.

I'd love to have Sneelock's mindset ... to some extent ... but this is horrible. All emotion and artistry lie dead in the gutter here, it's an ugly assault on the idea of musical expression.

Not really my favourite by GG or on Octopus, pseudo-medieval is not what they do best, but I'm with Snee!
And the instrumental bridge (ca. 2.00 to 3:01) is fabulous

Pseudo-Medieval Art Rock at its finest!
My sentiments are similar to Loveless'. It's at least got some musical qualities that are recognisable and melodically almost enjoyable, but it's not a tune that makes me want to listen to it again. I don't particularly enjoy the staccato singing style and the instrumental sections don't really add much, but at least they don't digress into "name the time signature" territory.

I forgot to vote. I just wanted to run away from this as quickly as possible.

Like Snee and Charlie, I prefer the US cover. I love the Roger Dean one too though. Like Man Who Sold the World, it's an album with more than one excellent cover. As opposed to so many where (at least) one of the covers is poor. Procol's Shine On Brightly is a UK album where the US cover is better.
