I mean, this is quite original, I think. Or it WAS, in 1973 or whenever
No, that's the least of its worries

Yes he does, quite often. But only about things that are DERIVATIVE OF something It is trying to imitate the post Raphael neu renaissance progressive sound of the Borgiestas. Everything I have heard of this lot is incredibly stupid.

it's a HIT. I love it.i love the whole record. I love each and every track. I love the annoying falsetto voice. I love the REAL album cover (us)
I love the xylophone, the mandolin and the synths. I love the R.D. Laing set to music (more or less) I love every proggy-woggy moment
I understand how fun it is to hate stuff but loving stuff is pretty great too. yeah, even stuff others find objectively horrible. I've TRIED regarding it as horrible but I still love it. just stubborn I guess.
actually, I think those guys were a really dynamite band from here and 2 or 3 after. dig this! better? worse? go ahead and projectile vomit, I'll still love it.
there's that WRONG cover again. do you know why it's supposed to be better? (stage whisper) because it's Roger Dean!!
I got all their records as cut-outs with the hole punched in the corner and the little "suggested for airplay" sticker that never had any songs selected. Columbia thought this would get played on the radio? wrong. I sort of wish they had. I mean, how far away is it from Jethro Tull or something? (sneelock is pelted with rocks and bottles)
all the math nerds loved that "power and the glory" album for some reason. maybe it sounds like math. I wouldn't know.

Hmm...folkie melody, the word 'troubadour' in the title...I guess it's geared somewhat for 'people like me' who like fiddles and crumhorns and whistles 'n' all dat shit, but the problem is they can't just go with it and instead have to accent all over the place and have speed runs that don't 'intertwine' as per Nigel's piano piece, but seem to be there mainly to show how many variations they can stick in a bar.
The funny thing is, some of my favorite 'folkies' do the same thing - Martin Carthy accents and syncopates all over the damn place, but it's more to approximate the 'free time' of traditional singers than to show off his chops. And there's a solid metronome beneath it as well. This lot sounds more like a hyperactive child by comparison.
For folks looking for exactly that (and of course there are plenty of folks like that) I'm sure this hits the spot, but for me it's pure shit.

They did some things that I enjoy (and would enjoy a great deal more, had they had a better lead singer), but "Raconteur Troubadour" isn't one of them.
