My mate was a big fan and used to play me her records, but I struggled a bit with her voice. RIP tho.

*(heavy sigh)*
She never, to my knowledge, made a fully satisfying long player (I reckon Gather Me comes closest), and those who are allergic to hippies may safely steer clear - but there was no one else like her, and her best records are really pretty extraordinary, both as songs and as performances. It's hard for me to imagine that Stevie Nicks wasn't influenced/inspired by her, and I suspect even Patti Smith might have been just a tad. R.I.P.

I suppose you could call me a fan. I had a couple of those curate's egg albums that Charlie mentioned, and a couple of singles, but I bought them all on the strength of the first thing I heard from her (her debut?), which was dark, not remotely 'hippyish' and singular, one of those rare records, like the Jaynett's Sally Go Round the Roses or Barbara Lewis's Hello Stranger that seemed to come from somewhere else, without much reference to what else was going on...
RIP
