^ That's probably my single favorite MC5 recording, if only for the sense of the physical space (and the recording equipment) being unable to contain their energy (and volume).
But I have to post this for the choreography:

Ah fuck. Wasn't he the last man standing? I think drummer Dennis Thompson is still with us.

Record covers and live shots always leave the performer frozen in time for us. They may age and locks may turn grey or fall away. The music is forever as vibrant as the moment it was commited to tape. The energy and power captured for all time.
The MC5 in their pomp and the truly amazing stage presence that their recorded history shows us is truly remarkable. They showed you and let you hear just how powerful and life affirming rock music can be. There are hundreds of better albums by a hundred different bands that are on a higher level than the MC5 ever laid down. If you ever turned up on a sunny afternoon and strolled across the grass just as the 5 took the stage then you would've have taken your eyes away from them until they finished. There were few as electric and as exciting as them back in the day.
As. Burns wrote : HERE'S TAE US; WHA'S LIKE US? GEY FEW, AND THEY'RE A' DEID'

My intro to them was via The Damned (Looking at You)
Great song. I nearly played it at my wedding- I put an arrangement down , with a looper. But , I did ‘Be My Baby’, with a hastily put-together girly backing group (all her friends) instead.
Maybe I’ll do it for her next big birthday.
RIP Brother Wayne

Fuck, this one hurts. A big band for me. I remember reading about 'Kick Out The Jams' in a book called The Rock Primer' when I was about 18 and getting a copy as soon as I could.
It was like when I'd discovered the Dolls and Stooges in the year or two previous. Like a bomb going off.
I remember getting a copy of (the still unreleased) 'A True Testimonial ' film about 15 years ago and that was an event.
I had a ticket for that DKT/MC5 thing about the same time and it was postponed and then Michael died so it was cancelled.
Rock on brother Wayne and Kick Out the Jams. X
