Metallica's "Trapped Under Ice". It's something I consider a pure pop song in the same vein as Sugar Sugar, a moment of sweet euphoria. God bless you, fishy. I needed that. While i don't agree with you, i think i get where you are coming from, because i see things like 'Beat on the Brat' and 'I'm Stranded' as perfect pop songs, and the step up in aural assault from Metallica seems like a kind of natural progression of sorts.

I really don't see Metallica as an aural assault of any kind, really, it's just a sort of fast pop. I don't think it's just me, and the fact I was into the likes of Napalm Death and Bolt Thrower in my early teens, because Metallica definitely have a mass-appeal that's practically Swiftian. You'll be saying you don't get together as a family at Christmas and sing "Raining Blood" around the piano next. Btw, Severed Heads! Good pick. I don't have that album yet. I've got the debut, and a couple of their later albums, but I'm slowly working through their catalogue. Whenever I see an album I tend to buy it.
