RIP Dave Myers of "Hairy Bikers" fame. I was a big fan of the programme; two enthusiastic blokes on bikes tasting food all over the world. They must have been laughing really at their career - how on earth did they get it? In fairness to the BBC, it is the sort of programme only they could really produce - a bit like an antithesis of the two fat posh women in the 90s. Myers would call Si "Kingy" (like KING EE) in that Cumbrian accent of his and my son would laugh out loud for some reason - it really tickles him. A show on Xmas Eve featured his cancer and it was quite moving - although I hadn't realised just how badly he'd been affected by it. He lived quite nearby and I'd often see him at local Model Railway exhibitions.

Really sad news - he was so very obviously a sweet, funny man, without any edge, or tendency to talk rubbish, so unlike most people you see on the TV. I thought he was doing OK after the recent show, so this is a bit of a shock.
RIP Dave.

I discovere in an obit that before he met King, he was a make-up artist for the BBC, and was responsible for painting that white stripe on Adam Andt's face before his first TOTP performance. But yeah, obviously a sweet man, and the Bikers were a great example of a true male friendship. RIP
