Beloved of children's parties, motivational videos, every Deano wedding you can imagine and countless TV spots, "Giant" is a breezy, toe-tapping dance number with a memorable horn refrain that cuts a swathe through every generation. It's hooky, chunky and lots of other -y adjectives. For more info on "Deano" see : unherd.com/2023/04/the-political-power-of-deano/

I'm not posting 2000 pop songs for "consideration" someone will post a list tho. 2000 songs and a ten paragraph mention of those that didn't quite make it.

What do you reckon to all the live performances with the dad-dancing, cheast-beating and growling stuff? I wonder how much was to go viral from his Letterman performance, and how much now he has to stick with that. He's an interesting character, using his hip-hop alter-ego he's worked with some of the most highly respected people out there. Like this:

Anyway, here's three other actual huge pop hits that I reckon are top-notch: So fuck you all

I remember the Letterman performance being posted on BCB and to be honest it put me off, just seemed quite gimmicky. It took a good few years for the song to creep up on me and for me to realise how good it was. I like what I've heard of Billy Woods too - there's an early track called 'Fool's Gold' I really like.

His collaboration with Moor Mother, Brass, is superb, and Armand Hammer's We Buy Diabetic Test Strips was one of the best albums of last year, imo. This track is probably more up my street than yours, but I love it:
