a - Well, I never heard this before. If I had heard it in the 1960s, I might be more kindly disposed to it, but its sole point of interest is in the substitution of names. The playing and vocals are really low standard. It doesn't even come close to the Them performance, while ten years after this was released, Patti Smith showed that the best way for a woman to approach this song is to get a decent band that understands dynamic, and turn it into a paean to lesbianism by playing it completely straight, rather than making a novelty song out of it. 2 / 10 b - Well, I'm thrilled that Moddy liked this enough to choose it for a cup in 2011, but I bought it before he was born – still have it, on a Stateside Red A demo. Fifty years later and I still can't sit still when this comes on. A 150bpm riot with a primitive drum solo and frenetic saxophone. What more could anyone want? 7.5 / 10

It's girls! And they're doing Gloria! But they've changed the name! I geddit. There is charm though.

A is new to me and was on its way to getting my vote but B steals the show – great stuff.

Beyond the gimmick I found A a bit dull - a turgid and fireless reading of a song I love in the Them and especially Patti versions.
B is fun. I find this thing gets samey after a while but this is as good an example of it as anything.

A is a lot of fun. B is a primal blast. Nice tie!

big obvious vote for
A
the vocals alone, for goodness sake!
I don't see what makes that other track any different from any of 1000 other tittyshakers (not my term! look it up!) that blighted our landscape in the 60s. Oh, right, it's fast. Please.

I like both of these. A's a neat genderbent take on a classic, B's fittingly titled. I suppose B takes it by a hair, but good match.
