BCB's soul cognoscenti has spoken.
don't listen to them. their first album was spectacular.
wallow, reconsider and perhaps just eat a little bit of humble pie

As a fully conoscenting BCB soul boy geriatric and unreconstructed Spacemen 3 and beyond fan, I reject your first sentence, endorse the third and turn down your kind offer of umble pie as I am a vegetarian. I don't think Spiritualized ever quite hit the same levels as the 3 at their best, but that's cleaving bunnies.

That's very reminiscent of Louie Louie slowed down and played through a big box of fuzzy stuff underwater.
I quite like it, as it happens, reminds me of a more coherent AMP. A bit too 60s-influenced musically for me, but not bad. I never really cared for Spacemen 3 beyond "Revolution", either to be honest, and I'm wondering if that's as good as I recall it sounding in the indie clubs of my adequately-spent youth.

I'm a big fan. I think Lazer Guided Melodies and Pure Phase were their finest albums (well, those and the Fucked Up Inside EP). Weirdly enough, I actually prefer Let It Come Down to LAGWAFIS, which makes me an outlier of sorts. I lost interest in them for a while - I don't know if I've spun Amazing Grace, Songs in A&E, or Sweet Heart Sweet Light more than once or twice apiece - but their new one is very good. They don't really bring anything new to the table (I mean, Pierce isn't exactly known for innovation), but they do what they're known for doing well. I'd probably go with these two tracks as the highlights for me:

One of those bands I've tried to like, but the whole whingeing smackhead schtick just gets on my nerves too much.

I would have to damn them with faint praise by saying, 'they're ok'.
Never heard a song by them I disliked; never heard anything that especially excited/motivated me either.
I preferred Spacemen 3, but I always liked the idea of them more than the actual results.

for aficionados, the bass playing on the first album is sublime. a wonderfully produced record. this is unbelievable.
