Thanks. Couldn't get much more provincial than that.

That looks like High Holborn. It isn't though – the Baker Street sign is a bit of a giveaway . I think it's the junction of Baker Street and Marylebone Road, looking West: probably taken from opposite Baker Street tube station. [EDIT] I just checked it with Google street view, and I'm right. I'm more interested in the bus: at first glance I thought it was a repurposed prototype AEC Routemaster from the 1950s – looks like the company badge and grill - but the license plate is wrong and so is the top deck configuration, more like the ones used in Bristol in the 1970s... I'll get my anorak. The car on the left is a bit of a give away this isn’t from the 50’s

I imagine its Salford, where Cornonation Street is set, in the early 1960s, as that's the character Ena Sharples from the soap

Plus I know nothing about cars, but I used to be a bus-spotter in the late fifties and early 1960s

Fantastic, where is this taken? Apparently it's Hulme, with Moss Side in the background.

"Preparing for the 1962 FA Cup Final, the Burnley players enjoy ice creams from the Mr Whippy van outside Turf Moor." "Blackburn Rovers’ Ally MacLeod [later manager of Scotland] retrieves a ball from the River Darwen during a training session in January 1959"
