I really enjoyed A. There's not much to it, but that's part of its charm. It's like this pretty miniature capsule. It reminded me of The Velvets in their more reflective moments.
It's certainly preferable to MTV Iggy..over-produced and on auto-pilot. Just retire man...enjoy your golf.

While I wish Iggy would occasionally put his shirt on, and while anything he does now will always pale next to Soldier, let alone the Stooges, I don't hear anything particularly more inspired in A than I do in B. And if anything B doesn't sound anywhere near as labored. Kids today, seriously. Really good at sounding like stuff, but no interest whatsoever in digging in deeply enough to find out what made them worth listening to. Iggy's taking a walk in the park, but at least he's getting out a bit...

I have come to the conclusion that I am the parallel universe version of Toomanyhatz when it comes to Preludin Cup song picking. A big fat A

I have no time for the likes of A at all, sorry. It's annoying me. I can't say I'd get into it, given time. Nope. Sorry.
Remember the fuss when Post Pop Depression came out? Wasn't it his first number one LP or something? Rave reviews, posters everywhere. It's like people felt they had to offer belated thanks, they were worried he wasn't going to be around much longer. The Bowie Effect. Weird carry-on really. It's not a great album and this is not a great song. In fact it's a mess, I really don't like it at all. That posey fucker from QotSA with his fancy 'licks' clogs it up. And all those fancy drum patterns - horrible. 'Gardenia' would have been a better pick but just because it's not a total embarrassment. I'd rather listen to that sombre Lou effort from the other match in this round

The Iggy isn't as dire as I thought it would be...Too bad Asheton wasn't around to give a more interesting guitar to it...Stoltz is playing with the light side of the VU template, like what many of the late nineties / early aughts indie acts were and it works just enough...Vote A

I like the Iggy song. I'd bet most people slagging it off didn't listen to more than 30 secs.

"it's like heaven had fallen on the earth... in the form of gardenia". It really reminds me of something this track, but I can't place it. For some reason I'm thinking Love & Rockets, but if it was, it'd be a weird B side or album filler. It's not too bad, very slight, but has a bit of charm.
I was expecting the Iggy track to be much worse, especially after Steph praised it. I almost like the drum line, and the guitar feels ok to me. I think the worst thing about it is Iggy himself, it's a weird vocal performance. The chorus is a bit horrible, too, it reminds me of Television. Oh my, what are those female vocals doing? Ick. Ok, perhaps it is pretty bad. It had something to build on, I thought, from the start, but what it's doing is nasty. Woah, another change. Reminds me of late 80s Legendary Pink Dots with those strings. That last 90 seconds is quite good. Extraneous, nothing to do with the song, but quite good.

Odd coincidence (unless Ray planned it deliberately) that the BIG Iggy song from that album shares a title with the other song in this match. It's worth hearing if you think 'Sunday' isn't terrible.

Odd coincidence (unless Ray planned it deliberately). It's all random, Man. Like, it fell out that way you know. And I never heard of any of this caboodle before. I ain't driving this bus, just sitting back and enjoying the ride. Sometimes

Well, I think this tie is quite good, I enjoyed both picks. That Iggy record has some ups and downs and this pick falls in the middle. A clicked all the right buttons on this warm afternoon. Nice one.

A won't play for me, but it's on Spotify. Both of these are just ok for me; some nice elements, but with some bits that I don't like too. I'll go A.
