i think it started at the last KA jolly-up. i went in good faith with an oz poster who left many moons ago. as we settled in it was quite clear there was a particularly heavy northern presence. all very amicable but it was noticeable that little pockets were forming. in hindsight, i believe that it was a reconnaissance mission. the, at the time, ruling LAQ were being seduced and as neil jung slowly succumbed to the psychedelic drugs, i thought to myself that there was something amiss. i don't think it was coincidence that subsequent JUs became an intrigue of PMs, facebook and an invite only affairs.
i still get a shiver recounting these events.

As I get older, my recollection gets weaker, but there was a period where some good posters left like DiMaio, Clipper Nolan, Goldwax, Balboa, Django, Molony Joy - all good music writers, but circumstances and life got in the way and it didn't happen at the same time, but a slow descent. Some of it was jobs, marriage, and kids because I keep in touch with some of them.
Again, I forget the timing, but it must have been the Yellowjacket thing - Kid P, Brother Louie, John K, Jumper K, Packrat, Beenieman, Dances with Difficulty left in a bunch. Again, pretty strong presences all around. And a couple other guys.
The funny thing is I met half the guys at a very fun Liverpool JU when I went over there 8 years ago for my 50th. So it coulda been me, for all I know. . .
Goatboy could've met me when he was in San Francisco, but chose not to. As meeting me seems to be the kiss of death, we could've gotten rid of him a lot sooner too if that happened.

You were the first person a certain stalwart BCBer met outside of his city of residence. But then I'm particularly hard to get rid of.
