a body of work long neglected. out of print and conveniently air-brushed out in favour of critics favourite 'the sound of'. fury had his finger on the pulse during the psychedelic movement though and recorded tracks written by up-coming artists such as bowie, jimmy campbell and the bee gees. his rerecording of 'wondrous place' during these wilderness years actually topped the original imho. fury possessed an ethereal, haunting voice but is oft-overlooked. 'spider and the fly' in particular is a healthy slice of heavy-psych.

Nice one. I think I started a thread on Fury's mid 60s work on BCB a year or two back. Whilst I wouldn't say it's a revelation, there is some very good stuff there. I particularly like the last track you posted which has the feel of the Everly's late 60s work. Produced by Vic Smith I see, I love his productions for The Attack and later of course for The Jam. His name attached to anything is usually a sign of quality.

His name attached to anything is usually a sign of quality. i'm pleased we've finally hit on some common ground, G. i agree, the campbell track is a real stand-out. campbell himself is another artist criminally neglected. from the freakbeat genius of the kirkbys to psych sensations the 23rd turnoff, he was a force to reckoned with.
