GREAT to see 'Walrus' at number one. The most exciting thing they ever did, in my book. Hope some day we get to hear alternate versions/isolated tracks etc. (MMT seems to have been skipped over with this reissue program)

the top 20:
01. I Am The Walrus 02. Strawberry Fields Forever 03. A Day In The Life 04. Tomorrow Never Knows 05. Dear Prudence 06. Rain 07. Ticket To Ride 08. I’m Only Sleeping 09. She Said She Said 10. Paperback Writer 11. Happiness Is a Warm Gun 12. I Feel Fine 13. The Word 14. Glass Onion 15. You've Got To Hide You're Love Away 16. Penny Lane 17. It's All Too Much 18. Revolution 20. Getting Better/There's A Place
amazed by the love for the sub-par dylan 'you've got to hide your love away' and faux soul 'the word'. 'i'm only sleeping' is one of the poorer tracks on 'revolver' but has gained a preludin vote of confidence. 'revolution' better than 'hey jude', really?
Lennon: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20 = 15 McCartney: 03, 10, 13, 16, 20 = 5 Harrison: 17 = 1
1962 - 1 1963 - 0 1964 - 1 1965 - 3 1966 - 5 1967 - 6 1968 - 5 1969 - 0

Cheers skopey. I think you missed my vote for 'The Word' though. I'm thinking that there may have been a mix-up as it says I voted for 'The Word'...I hate that song! I reckon my name may have been used instead of yours...whatever happened I demand the points that were erroneously put against my name are removed!!!

Nice one Skope. Thanks for this.
So John dominates then. Not a surprise but still, bit harsh on ol Macca eh? Always surprised to see how high Dear Prudence is rated

I think it's wonderful. I've always loved its sheer weight. And Ringo's drum part of fabulous.
No major shocks with the top records. There's so much colour and imagination there.

Great top 20. Glass Onion is the only one that has obviously been promoted too high..still you have to have one idiosyncratic choice I guess.

I know you're the leader of the weird cult around the song on here/BCB ( which isn't replicated anywhere else I've seen). I like it fine btw but it's not even top 5 songs Lennon wrote for The White Album, let alone top 20 Beatles of all time!

It's top five Beatles for me, and has been since the moment I first heard it. I didn't know what 'drugs' meant back then, but I remember thinking this was 'drugs'
Because he's not singing about his mother or Yoko or being famous or alone or whatever, you don't get a lot written about it. But as a piece of music, as a studio creation, as an example of surrealist art, there's really nothing quite like it. It's just incredible - the arrangement, the lyric, and of course Lennon's vocal. I think many have tried to do something similar, and have fallen a long way short.
