The team will either gradually improve as the season progresses or it won't, in which case Arteta will be gone before the season end.

I cannot understand why he only won three more England caps after 1966. He would have been 26 at the time.

I mean I can see why Ramsey didn't want to change a winning side for that game, but then going on to consign him to the international wilderness while he was in his peak years is just unjustifiable on any level. If a world class player was treated like that now they'd be an outcry.

Barcelona are imploding. The more you see the fallout and his subsequent behaviour at PSG, the more it's clear Lionel Messi is clearly a massive wanker. His ludicrous wages put the club in debt, and it was more the loss of Xavi and Iniesta that precipitated the decline of the club's footballing status. They haven't been decent for 3 or 4 years now.
It does show, in a soap opera narrative, just how far the mighty can fall.

I still regard Iniesta as the greatest player I've seen live. The way he controlled the pace of a game, the space he created by being able to receive the ball and pass while being marked. He was the heartbeat of that Barcelona side. Messi was awesome, but he was never that player to change the course of a game if it was going badly. And the only time I saw Ronaldo, he was marked out of the game by Figueroa.
Harsh to blame Messi for accepting huge wages though, isn't it? They weren't obliged to pay him so much to go bust.

West Ham were fabulous last night. Should have won 3-0. I'm confident Moyes is building a very good team with real quality. The only concern is proper cutting edge upfront.

The only concern is proper cutting edge upfront. it was a bit closer than that, but yes, West Ham had the better chances. our second team actually looked better than manu's. we have lots of good players in reserve. like you say, the concern is up front. i like bowen, but his finishing is pretty poor. i think not bringing in a striker to cover for antonio is going to come back and bite us on the arse. having said, i'm glad we didn't go down the everton route of signing an over-the-hill striker just for the sake of it.

some big games this weekend. looking forward to the chelsea - man city match.
the north london derby could ramp up the pressure on nuno or arteta. i think home advantage should be enough for arse.
