Cheating a little since the song came from the 90's but unfortunately everyone in it has passed away. Some of the finest Australian musicians here.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Hoodoo Gurus yet. Their last album was 2009 or so, but was a good sign off.

Love most of the bands mentioned here, especially the Hoodoo Gurus, who were one one of the greatest live bands Australia produced.
Shout out for the mighty Eastern Dark...

This came on the radio on the way home from work in the 40 degree heat and it just sounded perfect
My mum and dad never really ventured too far from the Oz Rock pub standards at the time (and I'll bludgeon Sloop with come Chisel later), so I was only exposed to a lot of the gear posted here after I started exploring music in general, but the Gurus are elite level.
My dad had a beer or two with Dave Faulkner at the Doncaster at Randwick back in the day, they were getting along well having a good chat until one of my dad's mates (who, perhaps in an unrelated story, has recently split from his wife) came over and became a gigantic drunken pest.

I like a lot of rock/pop which I guess you could call 'fun rock'. Has to be relatively intelligent and not too cheezy - I'll lump Terrorvision in with that. This track from 1987 by Painters and Dockers def falls into that category, a fav of mine, Nude School

good to find some footage of their performance on 'the tube'. if i remember correctly, the cramps made an equally incendiary performance on the same show.

A band I really liked at the time was Mental as Anything, who just managed to skirt making me nauseous like Men at Work. They had two great songs, in my opinion.
