All good. “Keep a knockin’” & “ Luucille” WAY beyond good. Godhead.

Oh, I love him. Just love him.
'Keep A Knockin' is my absolute favourite - the sheer dumb lunacy! the 'WOOOO's, the saxes, the shuffling drum intro - he really spoiled us! So it has to be that one....and then probably 'Lucille'.

I sometimes think "Keep A-Knockin'" is the greatest pure rock 'n roll record of all time.
I know there's no way "The Girl Can't Help It" is better than "Slippin' And Slidin'" or "Lucille"... but I can't help it (I can't help it). How a theme song with the opening line When she walks by, the menfolks get engrossed failed to nab an Academy Award is beyond me.

I never knew what that line was! I always sing 'the men folk get in rows' (like, a line of men watching her pass by)

The Girl Can't Help it is my favourite track of his, more fun than even Long Tall Sally, Tutti Frutti or Rip it Up.

I never knew what that line was! I always sing 'the men folk get in rows' (like, a line of men watching her pass by) For thirty or more years, I thought that when he asked Lucille's friends about her, 'all they did was type' and I had a vision of a Metropolis-style typing pool. Same with the Everlys version of the song. And then one day, clear as a bell and just as shocking, `i finally heard 'all their lips were tight.'

They're all various levels of fabulous - anyone who doesn't think so simply doesn't get rock and roll.
My order would probavly be Knockin, Lucille, The Girl, with the other two great tracks to round out the 5, no disrespect meant.

When I first started being a music geek and going back in time to older artists, I bought a Specialty Singles compilation of his.
It was a revelation.
I like him much better than Jerry Lee as far as that goes and Lewis was no slouch in the wild man department.

Yeah. I wonder if kids listen to Jerry Lee or Richard these days. I think Elvis kind of leaves them in the shadows, if you see what I mean. Like, he's the MAJOR FIGURE but what he did maybe isn't as immediate as that wilder stuff. They might be missing out.
