Learned just minutes ago: the late Ethan James, who ran Radio Tokyo Studio in Venice, CA and whose name should be familiar to anyone who bought American indie records in the '80s (among other things he recorded and/or produced a lot of the SST and "Paisley Underground" stuff, including Double Nickels On The Dime), was born Ralph Burns Kellogg - under which name he was a member of Blue Cheer (guested on the second album, joined with the third), and before that the promising but short-lived Mint Tattoo.
He was also a hurdy gurdy virtuoso, apparently.

He was also a hurdy gurdy virtuoso, apparently. Yes! His hurdy gurdy work is excellent, he has a great gritty Christmas album. Unfortunately, he died quickly and mysteriously ( I think it may have been alcohol related, but I could be wrong).
