A handful of tunes from the famous Scotch/Australian combo - do you like them and the band? How would you rank them? Any other faves?
Sorry
Friday On My Mind
Wedding Ring
The Land of Make Believe
Good Times

I wrote a long-ish reply and the fucking thing disappeared. I might come back to it later.
'Friday on My Mind' is a mini-masterpiece, an absolutely timeless song that never fails to make me want to kickstep within seconds of its opening bars. Amazing.
'Good Times' is great, the screechy backing vox are LOADS O FUN
'Sorry' is groovy
the other two are rubbish

I disagree with John slightly in that I think "Land of Make Believe" is the best of the rest (Friday..is obviously their classic), it creates a vibe and the instrumentation is pretty good. Overall though they're a bit too "generic 60s band" for me to take much interest. The songwriting isn't really there.

'Friday...' really is some lightning in a bottle shit. So tightly wound and coiled. The Beat Group Good Vibrations.
'Sorry' is a blast!
This is my other fave:

I just have a comp from them and it never fails to cheer me up. Fiday on My Mind is as good as everybody knows, Good Times is also great, but I like all of them. I used in the BCB covers Cup this fantastic version of River Deep Mountain High. I LUV it!
I guess by now you're all familiar with this Bravos tune written by Vanda/Young thanks to its inclusion in latest Tarantino OST.
This is a demo of the same song by The Easybeats

threads like this make me realize how good the kids have it today. when I heard Easybeats tracks I liked in the seventies it was a great big pain in the neck to even find "best ofs" and then to whilttle it all down to what I liked. nowadays, enjoying a band like that is a breeze. great band with top tracks. I was only disappointed back in the day because of all the effort I put in to hearing that stuff. looking back now it was mostly worth it. "Friday..." & "Good Times" are the sort of thing I like best.

This popped up on my shuffle this morning after ages and sounded so damn good. It's not a complex song, but the SOUND of it is just so perfect to my ears.
'The Last Day of May', from Volume 3 (1966)

Nothing interesting to say about the Easybeats, fange -not that what I'm going to say about another subject is really that fascinating either - but I'm surprised thaat our small but perfectly formed Scottish contingent did not give you any grief about your calling the band Scotch, as I had that hammered into me when I was a copy editor.

Yeah, i was wondering if anyone would say anything about that, but nobody did... until you! I never normally use it, it sounds clunky and wrong.
