Chuck Prophet wrote a really nice testimonial on Twitter.
Their first album is a classic and I Love a Man in Uniform is a great single. Have it on 12".

I had a number of the early singles as well, including 'Poverty' (which may be the best one). Gill was the best thing about the band and his sound defined them. One of the most original guitarists of his era.

Wilko was a huge influence.
For a very, very short time I hung out with him a bit. He could go from taciturn to hilarious, and sweet and gentle to curmudgeonly on a dime. A really good guy, I think, ultimately.
And I love Entertainment, particularly "I Found That Essence Rare," like mad.

So it appears he had just returned from a tour of China, and may have been one of the first Corona casualties

I think she is being too harsh on herself, blaming herself for his death. He was already immunocompromised (and had been blessed to live his life with it up to that point), and then the cytokine storm (which was unknown till then).

Agreed. He didn't have much of a chance regardless, it would seem.

"Entertainment!" was a pretty big deal for me. the tunes are punchy, the sentiments in the songs are (if nothing else) earnest and the guitar sounds just thrilled me from the very first listen.
I think "Happy Now" from last year is quite good. same Gang of Four bag but the lyrical concerns are current and so are little production flourishes. I like it a lot.
