So you like to feel uneasy? disturbed?
Maybe that's what this is all about. I'm not sure.

So you like to feel uneasy? disturbed? Maybe that's what this is all about. I'm not sure. No, that was a reference to Straw Dogs which plays on the fact that there can be something thrilling and appealing about violence but the violence in the movie is ugly and disturbing. It's like a duality thing. Hoffman gets off on it but is also disturbed by this revelation. I like violence in films if it's done right. It's like saying I like humour or nice visuals. I like action films, westerns etc. Violence can be great to watch if done right (Tarantino, Peckinpah). But I'm not into torture porn for example.

One of my early “art movie” experiences was “in the realm of the senses” You ever see it? It was a critically praised film at the time. The only thing I remember about it was that I still had something swinging between my legs when I left the theatre.

Great film. I watched it with the lass a few years back.
Yes we have that kind of relationship.

the Brutal violence I think was pretty unnecessary. Ah, fuck that. It's pure Grand Guignol. It works.
